Adult's biological meaning is a term used to describe an animal that is with the capacity to reproduce. The term "adult" is often applied to humans to mean social and legal concepts. Legally mature means that a person attains the age of maturity. They are considered to be an independent, self-sufficient person, and responsible. The word "major" can be used to describe the person. The typical age of attaining legal adulthood is 18, but the definition can vary based on legal rights, country and the level of development in psychological terms.

When it comes to the life span of an individual adulthood is the point when a person is at the point of complete intellectual and physical maturation. Adulthood, as commonly understood, starts around the age of 20 or 21. Old age is about 60 years later than middle age. The beginning of adulthood occurs between the years of between 18 and 30. Middle adulthood occurs from between the mid-30s and 60s. Later adulthood is when we reach mid-60s. As we enter the initial stages of adulthood (between 20 and 40) the bodies of our children have reached full maturation, even though our height and weight may rise slightly. In the early years of adulthood, we attain the top of our physical abilities.
